Update Step Browser

How Step ships updates, and how to check or force an update on macOS.

Step ships updates roughly every two weeks during the beta. Updates are downloaded in the background and applied on the next launch.

Steps

Check the current version
Open Step → About Step. The window shows the version and the release channel.
Check for updates manually
From the same window, click Check for updates. Step downloads the latest build if one is available.
Restart to apply
When the update is ready, Step shows a small dot on the menu icon. Quit and relaunch Step to apply.
