Tabs
Temporary tabs vs saved tabs
Step's lifecycle model. Temporary tabs disappear naturally; saved tabs stay in the Space you put them in.

Step splits open tabs into two clear states. This keeps your sidebar calm without losing anything important.
Temporary tabs
Tabs you open but don't act on are temporary. They live in the FLOW section at the bottom of the sidebar and roll off after 12 hours of inactivity. They never block you, never collect, and never need cleanup.
Saved tabs
Saved tabs live in the PINNED section above. They stay until you remove them. Save a tab the moment it stops being disposable, with one click on the bookmark icon or by dragging it up.
Pinned tabs
Pinned tabs are saved tabs you always want first in the list. They appear at the top of the PINNED section in compact form and are great for sites you reach for daily.
Active tab
The currently focused tab. Whichever section it lives in, only one is active per Space.
